‘The Theory of Everything’ is the latest annual installment of Union Craft Brewing’s entry in Ales for ALS, where proprietary hops are required to be used by participating breweries to create unique beers. Union is the only participating Maryland brewery in the program this year. Ales for ALS is one of several nationwide programs which helps fund ALS research, and it’s a unique way to raise awareness of the organization.
Union Craft’s co-founder Jon Zerevitz told us that “They send us a really unique hop blend, so every brewer that participates gets the same hops. This year’s blend was very citrusy and fruity, so we made a Belgian-style Pale Ale with some great Belgian yeast so you get all those yeasty notes and a punch of hops in the aroma. We used every bit of hops they sent us so it’s a significantly hoppy beer with a nice Belgian.”
Theory debuts today at Union’s tap room and I approve. Expect to see it next week on draft only in the finest area beer bars.
