You’ve Been Eating Halloween Candy Wrong Your Whole Life. Let Starr Hill Help.
Steve Fogleman, Baltimore Beer Baron
(CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, October 31)-Stop what you’re doing, because this is a Halloween Advisory.
Yesterday, I ambulated in to Starr Hill Brewery’s Crozet, Virginia facility to quaff a pint after a visit to the minor league professional tournament at the Boar’s Head a few miles down the road. They used to make Hungry Man TV dinners and pot pies at this old ConAgra plant, but over the past three years, they’ve made 75,000 barrels of beer there. It’s the state’s largest brewery of VIRGINIA craft beer. Hear that, Stone?
It was the day before Halloween and they were advertising candy pairings with their beers, and frankly, I thought that was a daft gimmick.
I was wrong. And I will never eat Halloween candy the same way again.
Who knew I was eating Halloween candy wrong for the last thirty years?
Almond Joy with the Debut Barrel-Aged Trippel.
A Kit Kat with the Maple Leaf Brown Ale.
Mike & Ike with “The Hook”, a Grapefruit Session IPA.
And hey kid, how’d you like a Helles Bock with that Snickers?
The full list is below. Try it. It works. Have fun with the list tonight and let me know if you come up with any pairings.
